Birth Support
I offer full-spectrum doula support, which means I provide emotional, physical and informational support during pregnancy, birth, postpartum, miscarriage, stillbirth, infant loss and abortion. I am based in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town and attend homebirths as well as births in hospitals or birth centres.

How it works
- I will provide a safe, non-judgmental space to discuss your expectations and address any fears about birth.
- We will discuss the birth process, labour coping mechanisms, post-partum expectations, etc.
- This will be an opportunity for me to meet anyone else who will be attending your birth (e.g. your partner)
- These visits (or at least one of them) would ideally be at your home, however we can make alternative arrangements if needed.
- I can also provide referrals of other pregnancy and birth-related care providers & services – e.g. pregnancy yoga/exercise classes, well baby clinics, lactation consultants etc.
- I will provide continuous emotional support and encouragement throughout your labour and birth.
- I support you in creating a safe, comfortable environment, regardless of the actual location.
- I can help facilitate the decision-making process should plans need to change.
- I can assist you with physical comfort measures and coping techniques (massage, breathing, positions etc.).
- I can support your partner (if applicable), who may be unfamiliar with the birth process, to enable them to better support you.
- From 38-weeks
- We will keep in contact via phone and email as your estimated date of delivery (EDD) approaches.
- Two weeks prior to your EDD I will remain on-call 24/7 to attend your birth.
- You can contact me at any time if you think you are in labour and we will decide when and where I will join you.
- I will help you get settled and comfortable directly after the birth.
- I can assist you with latching your baby if you intend to breast/chestfeed.
- I will do 2 x postpartum visits after your birth, at times that are most suitable for you and your family.
- I will assist you and your family with settling in at home.
- I can provide referrals of postpartum and newborn care services and care providers if needed.
